As we approach the last couple of days of term it is time for me to reflect back on the last year.
We have had another fantastic year at Barton. There have been so many events, trips and activities throughout the year that have enhanced the learning experience for all the children in the school. I know that the children have had a great year.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the children for making our job as teachers in the school a pleasure and a privilege. We have a fantastic school community and I am immensely proud to be the Headteacher. I would like to thank the staff wholeheartedly for the excellent work they do. I would like to thank them all for what they have done over the year, going the extra mile for the school at every opportunity. I know the staff are extremely committed and proud to be working at Barton.
I would like to say a fond farewell to our Year 6 class. They have been a great bunch of children to work with and I am sure they will leave on Tuesday with some great memories of their time here. I wish them all every success in their next schools and look forward to seeing them in the future. I know they have really enjoyed the Oliver play, the Dorset trip and their Ball on Monday will be a great experience for them all.
We also have to say goodbye to some staff. We are all deeply sad to be saying farewell to Mrs Wild. She has been an excellent Nursey teacher and leader and we will sorely miss her. I wish her every success in her new school back up north and we look forward to hearing from her about her next adventure. We are also saying farewell to Mrs Mitchell who is retiring and we wish her well and thank her for all she has brought to the school. In addition we will also be saying goodbye to Miss Treagus, who is moving on to study her Master’s degree. I wish her every success and we thank her hugely for all that she has done for the school. Finally we are also saying good bye to Mrs Dewing who is moving on to work in Speech and Language and is very likely to be coming back to Barton to support us.
It is also a sad time for us all as we leave the current Barton site. The school has a huge amount of history and memories for thousands of people. It has been a real privilege to hear the tales from student old and new.
We hope our final day at the school and our farewell events mark the end of an era in the right manner.
We are extremely excited about the coming year. With new staff, new pupils and of course the new site. It will be a very exciting period for the school. We will endeavour to keep you updated with any information we can but rest assured the children need to be in school at 8:35am on the 12th September, and we will be there to meet and greet parents and pupils on arrival on the first day.
I wish you all a lovely holiday and look forward to seeing you all in September.
